Just to save ANY confusion the county of Huntingdonshire is currently a
"district"
as far as local government boundaries are concerned but in the
minds of everyone who lives here it is still a county. The government of the
day knew this when they changed the boundaries because they left the name as
a 'shire', likely as not it will soon be a county again the next time the
government plays with the local government boundaries. When will they learn
to stop fiddling about with things that have worked well for over a thousand
years?
If you are interested in ensuring that we keep our heritage and maintain the geographical county of Huntingdonshire, then why not join the Huntingdonshire Society or visit the town.
The upgrade of our websites in Huntingdonshire continues at a pace, the latest addition here is the new EVENT diary that brings together information that we are gathering on our town websites to display it in one convenient place - here!
We have now also summarised all the businesses and organisations that we have recorded in our database over the entire district and you can now view the lists by type and sub-type, so if you are looking for a specific type of business in the district this will be a good place to start.
We now have over 50 individual local websites for each of the Huntingdonshire towns, all the larger villages and many of the smaller ones too. And we are pleased that two of them, Ramsey Town and Bury Parish, have also been adopted as the "official" websites for their respective town and parish councils.
