Summary history of Great Staughton

Great Staughton is nine miles south-west from Huntingdon. A large village in which there were the seats of several important families. Staughton Manor was the property of the Criolls, Cretings, and Wauton families; Valentine Wauton was one of the regicides, and forfeited his estates. Gaynes Hall was the seat of the Engaynes ; and Place House was occupied by Oliver Leder. Staughton House was the seat of the Baldwins, Onslows and others.
