Five miles north of Kimbolton stands Leighton Bromswold. A pretty village situated upon a hill. George Herbert was prebendary of this place, and almost rebuilt the church. Sir Gervase Clifton, first Baron Clifton of Leighton Bromswold, began to build a large house within a moated enclosure; the gatehouse, a fine building of the early years of the seventeenth century, has now been converted into the vicarage house.
