Summary history of Spaldwick

Spaldwick is seven miles west from Huntingdon. At one time a market-town but now only a village. it was given by the Abbot of Ely to the Bishop of Lincoln in recompense for his loss when the Abbacy of Ely was made into a Bishopric. The church has a very fine tower and spire, and pretty early Decorated chancel. In the village there is an ancient stone bridge.
