The ancient market-town of St Ives which, in 1874, was incorporated as a borough. It had a railway station through which the Great Eastern, Great Northern and Midland Railways once ran trains. There were also extensive markets for horses, sheep and cattle. Formerly there was a priory here, subordinate to the great Abbey of Ramsey.
