The Ground Plan and description of Ellington Thorpe Moat in Huntingdonshire
A moat at Ellington Thorpe encloses an area 180 ft. by 130 ft. having a strongly rounded corner. There is a way in on the north. On the west and south sides are bold outer banks with their crests about 35 ft. from the edge of the moat. From the south side of the outer bank a dyke runs some 50 ft. to the south. About 140 ft. from the north-east corner of the moat, but separated from it by a hedge and large dyke, is a subsidiary enclosure of unusual shape, being 250 ft. long by 37 ft. wide. From the south-west corner of this moat a dyke runs sough for 400 ft., with a bank on its west side.
