The moat at Little Gidding
A well-defined moat, 10 ft. wide across the bottom and 7 ft. deep, encloses a square of 90 ft. by 84 ft. From the north corner a trench runs towards the north-east for about 68 ft., in connection with which there are subsidiary trenches. On the south-east, parallel with the moat, 40 ft. from it, is another trench, and opposite the east corner of the moat there is a way in across this outer trench.
