The museum is housed in a late 15th Century building which for 300 years was the Whtie Horse Inn. Reminders of it's colourful past can still be seen around the museum. The displays show how local people used to live. In Cambridgeshire, people did not wear gold and silver just for decoration, they used precious metals to ward of illness. You can see a Fenman's gold plated ring which was thought to prevent rheumatism, as well as a small box used by chemists to coat pills with gold and silver to make them easier to swallow.
